Ajayi Crowther University (ACU), Oyo, has recorded another milestone as one of its graduates, Dr. Olasehinde-Williams Godwin Oluseye, was listed among the top two per cent of the most influential scientists in the world.
The recognition came through a global ranking released by Stanford University in collaboration with the Elsevier Data Repository, which identifies scientists making exceptional impact through research citations and academic influence across diverse disciplines.
Dr. Oluseye, who currently lectures at Istanbul Ticaret Universitesi, Turkey, emerged among top scholars from institutions in the United States, China, Singapore, Nigeria, Australia, Germany, Finland, and Great Britain, among others.
According to the organisers, the list showcases scientists whose work has made remarkable contributions to global knowledge and innovation.
“For researchers, institutions, and science enthusiasts alike, this ranking serves as a vital tool to recognise excellence and track cutting-edge scientific progress,” the report stated.
The Stanford–Elsevier ranking employs career-long and single-year citation data covering 22 scientific fields and 174 sub-fields, ensuring a balanced and inclusive evaluation of scholarly influence.
Dr. Oluseye, who graduated from ACU in 2011 as the Valedictorian of his set, described the recognition as both “humbling and inspiring.”
“I give all glory to God for His guidance and grace throughout my journey. This recognition is a call to keep advancing knowledge, uplifting others, and contributing to research that benefits communities and drives sustainable change,” he said.
The management of Ajayi Crowther University has lauded the achievement, noting that it underscores the institution’s growing reputation for academic excellence and global relevance.
The university’s Vice-Chancellor described Dr. Oluseye’s recognition as “a shining example of the quality of graduates ACU continues to produce — globally competitive, intellectually sound, and committed to societal impact.”
